I’ve had so many questions across social media on how I plan my year and evaluate the year before it was something I wanted to go through over point by point. This has been something I’ve been doing the past four or so years and this method has really helped me maximise my positivity and productiveness so I would love to share with with you.
REVIEW
I do a journal called the 5 minute journal every morning and evening, it asks you 3 simple questions in the morning and 2 in the evening. One of the evening questions is how could I have made today better? So I’ll go through and look at that section taking mental note of all the things I didn’t enjoy doing. For example, I don’t enjoy going away on trips if I don’t make time for creating content and taking beautiful pictures as I feel as though it’s a wasted opportunity so this year I’m turning down trips with itineraries that don’t leave room for me to shoot.
Another thing I review is my diary, I’m still not an electronic diary girl and I’m really ok with that! I go through and see when I was the most productive and for me that’s when I have allocated days for activities like a filming day, meetings day, dedicated afternoon for errands like haircuts. As opposed to fitting different things in the same day and rushing them all.

STEPS FOR GOALS
Pretty obvious one but what I like to do with my goals is visualise how I’m going to make them a reality. Listing steps of how that could or would happen which gives me the mindset that my goal is achievable and I’m more mentally ready for it!
SET REMINDERS
It’s already day 17 of 2017 and I haven’t started a project I wanted to have step 1 complete by the end of the month. I know on Monday I have a phone calendar reminder warning so before then, I better get on it! Another reminder that’s really working for me at the moment is the 8pm ’stop working’ alarm. In the weeks I’ve been implementing this I’m winding down so much easier at night, it does take me fighting the urge to work in the evenings as I’m such a night owl but I find I’m going to bed with a clearer head as opposed to thinking about all the things I could/should do that day.
PLAN SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO
If that’s a trip, a party or a secret surprise for a friend. Gives you something to get excited about and look forward to. I have a special anniversary trip planned with my man which I’m so excited about - and the laptop won’t be coming with me! Also my sister and I have planned a surprise birthday trip for my mum and no one knows where we are going except us!
Let me know if you have a year to year routine? What are you aiming to do differently this year?
