Trying Out Gingham

I love the coziness of winter, but at the same time I am more than ready to reorganise my wardrobe for spring and summer. I’ve put my heavier coats away until next season and I’ve been so excited to pull forward some gorgeous spring pieces.

I’ve always been a lover of colour and girly prints and when I saw this dress I couldn’t wait to wear it. Gingham is everywhere at the moment in really wearable colours like black, red and blue gingham, but I’ve seen so many great alternatives to the trend, with lots of ruffles and cutouts so I was on the hunt for the perfect piece.

I’ve ordered a few pieces and sent them back, something about gingham made me look like a tablecloth and I was close to giving up but trust one of my favourites, Millie Mackintosh collection, to bring the gingham trend into something more wearable with a cute girlie feel.

It’s a midi dress, which really stood out to me because of all the small details making it so unique. As usual I’m obsessed with both the off-shoulder cut and the pockets (obviously), but also I think the midi length of this dress makes it so elegant.

My bag is new in for spring and I found it on one of my favourite websites monnierfreres.com. Just like the dress, I was really drawn to all the extra details that have gone into this clutch. The pale pink is extremely wearable but I’m like a magpie so I fell in love with the rock studs which I think toughens up what would otherwise a pretty, pink clutch.

I’ve now added another gingham piece to my wardrobe since then. I think they will be few and far between for me but this dress is a keeper.
