Chic Stay: Hotel Cafe Royal London

An escape to the countryside is usually the first thing that’s on my mind when I need a break from the hustle and bustle of London, but during this busy time of the year, full of meetings and events, I need to stay a bit closer to the action, so a staycation is what I went for this time around instead. I left my laptop at home and took a weekend off to unwind in – funnily enough – super central Hotel Café Royal, located right off the Piccadilly Circus, one of the loudest and busiest areas in London. But as soon as I stepped into my room, I felt like I couldn’t be further away from the outside commotion. The incredible bedroom view of the famous junction and the Palace of Westminster in the distance, with people and cars rushing by several floors below my window, was the only thing that reminded me I’m still in the city, as the hotel itself was surprisingly peaceful and quiet – just what I needed to disconnect from the real world.

I stayed in the Regent Suite, which instantly made it onto the list of my favourite hotel rooms, and not just because of the most comfortable king-sized bed ever. The whole place with its chic interiors and modern touches like remote-controlled curtains and a bathroom mirror TV is right up my alley, and I love how spacious the suite is too – you can literally play hide and seek in! It comes with a cozy bedroom; a whole wall of closet space and a handy kitchenette in the front room; a guest bathroom; a separate living room with a massive TV and a dining table big enough to sit a whole family; but what really won me over was the glorious marble bathroom with a rainfall shower and an enormous, deep soaking bathtub I could easily fall asleep in – so zen… Another bathroom feature that made me wiggle with excitement was the big mirror above the double sink and how well-lit that section was. You and me both know hotel bathrooms are not famous for having the best makeup lighting, but this one is a winner!

The service was exceptional, as soon as I entered the building upon checking in I was offered some tea and biscuits and the staff was incredibly accommodating throughout the whole stay too, making sure I was feeling comfortable and had everything I needed. They were even kind enough to serve me dishes from the breakfast menu way past its time, and speaking of in-room dining, the menu they have is extensive and the food is available to order 24/7, so no worries if you’re arriving with an empty stomach in the middle of the night.

Whether you want to treat yourself to a staycation, are coming to London for business or plan on visiting to explore the city, I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. You get the best of both worlds, the peace and quiet as well as the central location, right on the doorstep of your next meeting or adventure, and with Hotel Café Royal being pre-approved by the Leading Hotels of the World I instantly knew I could expect amazing standards and would get the best and more from my stay.
