Date Night Edit

Date nights are the perfect excuse to dress up, pull your favourite makeup items out of the drawer, and go for the look that makes you feel the most confident, whether that’s a bold lip, a sultry smokey eye or a very minimal combo. Although I love a full-blown smokey eye, on dates rather than going all out I prefer to enhance my natural features. I’ll usually stick to an amped-up version of my day-to-day look, you know the drill here – golden skin, winged liner and coats of mascara. I’ve pulled together my date night look from my game changing skincare essentials to the perfect dress to share with you…

The combination of below zero temperatures we’ve had in London this week and having my heating on full blast, has left me with a couple of dry patches on my face, so before I apply foundation, properly moisturising my skin first is a must. GlamGlow’s exciting new Waterburst Hydrated Glow Moisturiser is ideal for dry skin, and godsend when I’m in need of an instant but long-lasting boost of hydration. The gel cream consistency feels very soothing and gentle on the skin, so if your face area tends to get sensitive, it’s definitely the one to take note of, and since the texture isn’t heavy or tacky, you can apply your face makeup straight after and keep it looking fresh for longer.

For the ultimate glow-from-within, I like to finish off my face makeup with a few dabs of Charlotte Tilbury’s latest addition – the Hollywood Flawless FilterIt’s liquidy radiance in a bottle you can use multiple ways, but my two favourite are either as an illuminating primer by mixing it in with foundation or a highligher by dabing it on top of my cheekbones, putting a little bit of it on my cupid’s bow too, and just continuing tapping it with my fingers until it blends in. The finish is beyond stunning, giving me a naturally radiant complexion, and I find that it slightly blurs out my pores too. Make sure to head over to my Instagram and check out the beauty highlights to see it in action!

Just like when it comes to the moisturiser and foundation, I like to prep my lips first too. By Terry’s cult rose-scented Baume de Rose balm has had a permanent place in my beauty cabinet for many years now. Applying it before bed gives me the softest lips the next day, so I was over the moon when I found out it now comes in handy, on-the-go stick version too. It smells just as lovely and does a great job at moisturising my lips without being sticky or too thick to use year-round, whilst also leaving them with a bit of a plumping shine.

Baume de Rose Lip Crayon is not the only new item in the range, though – there’s also a sugary lip scrub out now, which gently exfoliates chapped lips and gets rid of all the flakes in seconds, leaving them super smooth and ready for the next lip application step. If you’re a matte lipstick wearer like me, it’s a must-have!

Moving on from the face, to moisturise the rest of my body, I’ve been reaching for the Glossier Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream. It’s a step-up from your average body moisturiser that doesn’t only provide my skin with hydration, but also includes tiny reflecting particles which coat it in subtle, dewy sheen. Another thing I like about it is the scent, as it’s not overpowering, so you can easily layer perfume over it without the two different scents clashing.

Speaking of perfume, choosing which one to wear never gets easy for me (I love so many), but for date nights, the sexy notes of Diptyque Eau Duelle couldn’t be more suitable to finish off the look. It’s a vanilla with a twist type of scent with a spicy oriental feel to it, but it’s not overpowering and lingers on all night, which is always a big plus.

You know me – the more ruffles, the better, and this Rahi Cali dress I’m wearing couldn’t be more ‘Amelia’ (and date appropriate) if it tried. The flowy statement tier ruffle sleeve and skirt combination along with the delicate see-through material is perfectly feminine without revealing too much, and the cinched-in waist gives the dress a nice, flattering shape too. It’s a nice autumn/winter addition to the closet, because of the darker mulberry colour that you can wear year-round, and for the same reason, it works great for evening as well as day time.

Whilst I wait for the bare-legged weather, I’m pairing the dress with my grey over-the-knee boots to cover a bit more skin, the Soru Jewellery Hoop Earrings I’ve rarely taken off recently, and the most beautiful East/West bag in Rose from the limited edition Strathberry X In The Frow Collection my amazing friend Victoria is behind! The elegant structured shape with a signature bar closure, the wearable cross-body style and the variety of colours it comes in make it a statement piece for every woman’s closet, especially since it functions for both casual, day-to-day and slightly more formal evening occasions. Unfortunately the bags have already sold out, but you can still get your hands on the cardholders and pouches over here. They come in such gorgeous limited edition colours that Victoria chose and Strathberry have never done before!
