It feels so surreal to be revealing my shroom after dreaming about it for years! I coined the term ‘shroom’ (shoe room) as much more than just a shoe room, it’s really a girly haven and zen space for me – but the term shroom has really caught on and although it might have other connotations, we’ve definitely started a new one ourselves. I’ve been collecting photo inspiration on my phone for as long as I can remember for these shelves in particular. The idea that’s stuck with me was to create a space where I could do my makeup, try on outfits, and display all my bags and shoes. You know I’m a huge accessory fanatic so bringing this space to life where I can visually see everything that I love and have worked hard for has me on cloud nine! It’s half finished right now, but I couldn’t wait to show you the main feature which is this shoe and bag wall.

When I first moved into this house, I automatically envisioned how I wanted the pink room to look. This hasn’t been a quick project I have to say, there was a lot of back and forth to really fine tune exactly what I was after. We spent hours measuring each shoe, each handbag, the average height and the range of heights to make sure everything fitted seamlessly. We started off with a few different design drawings and then someone came round to measure the room once we had a more finalised idea. A few designs later and I couldn’t be happier with the final result – I would highly recommend checking out Neatsmith if you’re in the market for bespoke wardrobes, the attention to detail was amazing.

The wardrobe was fitted in less than a day and the moment I walked in to see it all done and eagerly awaiting to be filled, I think I probably stared at it for a solid five minutes! I love the lighting above the shelves, it makes the room feel like I’m in my favourite store.

I haven’t quite decided on my favourite arrangement yet, but for now I might have to take everything down for the changes to the other wall which I’ll tell you about soon. The builders are on their way, so I might take the opportunity to colour coordinate everything.
